The Impact of Your Participation
- Diabetes Devices & Insulin - The average start up cost for an insulin pump or automatic insulin delivery system for one patient is $6,500. It costs $250 to cover one month's worth of insulin for a child, $100 to cover one month's worth of needles, and $50 to supply a type 1 patient with ketone strips for a week.
- Helping Hand Program - CDF receives requests for assistance all the time of folks needing to pay rent, and also need to get CGM sensors that month or folks having a hard time juggling the cost of groceries and the cost of insulin. Last year, the Helping Hand Program assisted approximately 370 families with financial support.
- Therapy - Mental health care is integral in caring for diabetes. Diabetic children are twice as likely to suffer from depression and up to four times as like to experience disordered eating. The average cost for therapy is over $125 per hour.
