Honoring: Susie Hummell
Susie is proud to call herself a Denver native, having lived in Denver, Golden, and Englewood, Colorado. After graduating from Englewood High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Hummell. Proud to have 51 years together, they have 2 children, each married, 9 grandchildren, and a brand new grandson by marriage.
Susie has always been Miss Hospitality, giving of herself to help others as the “Organizer Extraordinaire”. After meeting Sue Palanadri, former Program Director of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation (CDF), she joined The Guild in 1978. There she quickly became involved and worked on the Carousel Ball Denver, Carousel Days, and much more. Several years later, in 1996 while working for the Denver Broncos Susie received a call from CDF with a request to join the staff as Guild Coordinator. The rest is history…In the last 20 years Susie has given CDF her ALL. She has helped to foster the programs, create new events, and build strong relationships throughout her career.
In her spare time, Susie is an active member of her church, and an avid Bronco, Rockies and Avalanche fan. On a warm summer evening, you may see she and Richard cruising around town on the Harley Fat Boy. Her grandkids are her passion and feels blessed to have a special relationship with each one. She can often be found hanging out with one or more of them, loving every minute of it.
Marc Bouwer, Presenting Fashion Designer
Bouwer’s designs have graced the covers of numerous magazines and the red carpet at movie premieres and awards shows. Indeed, one of Bouwer’s strong suits is his ability to cut a garment to complement a woman’s figure. Another is his acclaimed talent as a draper.
The Marc Bouwer aesthetic is the very definition of timeless elegance. The look is distinct—lush colors, plunging necklines, and daring up-to-there slits are undeniably sexy, yet kept in check by an appreciation for classic silver-screen glamour.
Recently, Bouwer’s strong ties to L.A.’s glitterati have made him a sought-after spokesperson for the entertainment industry. As a guest stylist and judge on many popular programs, he’s become the go-to personality for advice on style and fashion.
In 2012 the Marc Bouwer Hybrid label was launched, a contemporary dress line represented by Joey Showroom, and available at Saks Fifth Avenue and Anthropologie.
Why: The proceeds of this event benefit the programs of The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation, including Helping Hand (families in need assistance program), Scholarship Program for young people with diabetes, Diabetes Awareness and Education Program, and clinic and research programs at the Barbara Davis Center.
