Practical Ways to Achieve Targets in Diabetes Care
This course is designed for physicians, nurses, dietitians and other
health practitioners caring for patients with diabetes.The course
will offer the latest on the intensive management of type 1 and type
2 diabetes in children and adults. International faculty, including experts
from the University of Colorado Denver, are selected for their expertise in
innovation and practical knowledge of diabetes management.
This intensive 4-day course includes lectures, expert panel debates, and workshops. There will be plenty of opportunity for informal interactions with the course faculty and over 400 peers coming from all regions of North America.This biennial course has enjoyed great attendance and evaluations since its inception in 1990.

Proceeds of the event will benefit The Guild of the Children’s
Diabetes Foundation whose mission is to raise funds to support
programs of education, awareness, research, and treatment at the
Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, where over 5,000
children and young adults from all over the world currently receive
care. Also to assist families in need, provide continuing education
scholarships and sponsor social activities for children and their
families.
The Children’s Diabetes Foundation at Denver was established by
Mr. And Mrs. Marvin Davis in 1977 in Denver, Colorado, as a nonprofit
organization dedicated solely to the support of research in
childhood diabetes and to the provision of the best possible clinical
and educational programs for children with diabetes.

2009 High Hopes Carousel Ball
Sheraton Denver Downtown, Denver, Colorado
The Honoree for the 2009 High Hopes Carousel Ball, sponsored by the Children's Diabetes Foundation at Denver, is Arlene Hirschfeld, a dedicated community volunteer whose leadership and contributions to countless causes has been of extraordinary benefit to the Denver and Colorado medical community and the health of its citizens. Her volunteer efforts have also broadened the cultural horizons of the Mile High City. As a long time member of the Executive Board of the Children's Diabetes Foundation, her guidance and wisdom have been indispensable. Her support has helped to provide the finest diabetes programs available in the world at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.
Planned performers include Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and Earth, Wind & Fire, and Shawn King. Larry King will be the Master of Ceremonies with Ed Greene of CBS4 as host. There will also be a Live and Silent Auction.

including but not limited to, internists, pediatricians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners,
nurses, and certified diabetes educators. In this symposium, we will emphasize on the practical day-to-day management
and care of subjects with diabetes.

Every other year in October, the Carousel of Hope - with the generous assistance of our corporate sponsors and friends in the entertainment industry - raises millions of dollars in support of treatment and research programs at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. This year's Carousel is scheduled for October 25 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
