Dana Davis – Interim Executive Director

Dana Davis has spent most of her life as an activist, philanthropist and educator, fueled in part through her own personal struggle with Type 1 Diabetes with which she was diagnosed at age seven. She has been at the forefront of the renowned Children’s Diabetes Foundation.Together with her family, she has raised over $75 million for diabetes research and wellness.

After graduating from the University of Southern California with a Master’s Degree in Education, Dana began her career as an elementary school teacher. During these early teaching years, she became plagued by Diabetes-related foot problems, exacerbated by long hours spent on her feet in the classroom. Throughout the next twelve years, she would undergo eight corrective foot surgeries until ultimately, she was advised to discontinue teaching and adopt a critical foot care program. Her disillusionment with the search for luxurious yet comfortable shoes inspired a desire to develop her own line.

In addition to being the Interim Executive Director at CDF, Dana continues philanthropic efforts through her long involvement with The Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA, and sits on the board of The Nancy Davis Center Without Walls and the Children’s Diabetes Foundation.

Marijane Engel – Assistant Director

Marijane oversees the ATDC (Keystone) annual conferences, serves as Executive Board of Directors liaison and as the HR administrator. She loves animals, mystery/crime novels and movies and spending time with family and friends. You may contact her at mj@childrensdiabetesfoundation.org .

Susie Hummell – Guild Program Manager

Susie oversees the Brass Ring Luncheon, Scholarships, High Hopes Golf Tournament and works directly with The Guild in all areas. Susie hails from Colorado, has been with the Foundation nearly 20 years, loves people, is an avid sports fan and her family is her passion. Cindy Kalkofen – Graphics Manager

Cindy has been with the Foundation for 20 years and has published many of our diabetes books, Newsnotes and Carousel of Hope journals. After many years in retail advertising as an illustrator/designer, she was looking for a position that would allow her to help children with her talent. Lisa Steele – Auction Manager

Amanda Garrett – Events Manager

Amanda, an Iowa native, moved from the Midwest to Denver in 2013 to pursue her love for the outdoors and the area. She has a passion for the non-profit industry and enjoys volunteering throughout the community. Amanda manages CDF’s events including the Carousel of Hope in Los Angeles, the Carousel Ball in Denver, and two Tied to a Cure golf tournaments. Daphne Rothstein – Accounting Manager

Daphne is the contact for any accounting questions you may have. Daphne enjoys hiking, studying ancient history, Land Rover clubs and spending time with her son. You can reach her by emailing daphne@childrensdiabetesfoundation.org for any of your accounting related concerns.

Maggie Petray – Development Manager

Maggie is currently in charge of sponsorships, gift bags and book orders at CDF. A Colorado native, Maggie enjoys outdoor concerts, camping and animals of all sizes! You can reach her by emailing maggie@childrensdiabetesfoundation.org with any issues or questions.

Kayla Vella – Guild Program Manager

Kayla currently assists with coordinating all the programs, events and committees for The Guild including Helping Hand, Education, the Charlotte Tucker Scholarship, the Halloween Party and the Brass Ring Luncheon Auction. Mattie Peck – Communications Coordinator

Mattie is responsible for social media posting, public relations, and the CDF newsletter, Newsnotes. She is creating a blog, which you can find here, to showcase the wonderful patients, families, nurses, and doctors of the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes. Outside of work, Mattie enjoys playing volleyball or playing oboe in chamber ensembles.  You can reach her at mattie@childrensdiabetesfoundation.org.
